IC sports camp will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day

2.07.2018

Girls kindergarten through eighth grade are invited to participate in the free event on February 17.

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Illinois College Athletics is holding a free camp on February 17 to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Nearly every women's sport at IC will be represented, and the camp is open to all girls from kindergarten through eighth grade.

The day begins with registration at 12 p.m. in the Bruner Center Concourse. From there, campers will go across the street to the Cummings Dining Hall where they will have "Lunch with the Lady Blues" prior to the women's basketball game against Grinnell College at 3 p.m.

Coming back to the Bruner Center, there will be a Sports Skills Camp from 1 to 3 p.m. in King Fieldhouse. The only team not expected to be represented is IC swimming, as the Blueboys and Lady Blues will be competing in the Midwest Conference Championships that weekend in Iowa.

When the camp is over, campers and their families are welcome to stay for the game between the Lady Blues and Grinnell. There is free admission for all registered campers and their families.

Sign-up is open from now through the day of the camp and all participants will receive a free water bottle. If you register by Feb. 8, you will also receive a free camp t-shirt. If you have any questions, contact Illinois College Head Volleyball Coach Kristy Duncan at 217-245-3403 or by email at kristy.duncan@ic.edu.
