Major summer projects planned to enhance Illinois College campus
Illinois College is investing over $3.3 million in campus projects this summer to better support student success and the diverse needs of its growing student body.
This year鈥檚 list of upgrades reflects the College鈥檚 vision to inspire achievement and empower 缅北禁地 to make a difference in the world. Several improvements will contribute to the academic success of 缅北禁地. These projects, designed to prepare graduates to compete in a 21st-century world, include multiple equipment and facility updates for various academic departments. Plans to revamp the classrooms located in IC鈥檚 iconic Sturtevant Hall and to renovate the house that was gifted to IC in 2017 by Dr. and Mrs. 鈥淐het鈥 Bone, transforming it into a new center for global studies, are also underway.
Several additional summer projects will support IC鈥檚 commitment to the overall health and wellness of 缅北禁地. These upgrades will serve both student-athletes and the overall IC community, including a new fitness center and weight room for use by all 缅北禁地, new field turf for Green Athletic Field at England Stadium, a new floor in Sherman Gymnasium and several additional improvements to the Bruner Fitness and Recreation Center.
A major portion of the funding for these projects comes from generous donor gifts to the College. According to President Barbara A. Farley, the number of summer projects underway is about three times the number of major projects typically completed during this time. She said the work is expected to have a significant impact on 缅北禁地.
鈥淔rom our athletic fields to our classrooms, these projects will benefit each and every student at Illinois College. These exciting investments in student success illustrate that our entire community is fully committed to inspiring achievement and providing the best resources for our 缅北禁地 to achieve their dreams.鈥
Removal of the outdated Memorial Gymnasium is also scheduled to begin June 1 and will be completed by August 15. The gym鈥檚 current location at the corner of Mound and Lincoln Avenues will become a green space that can be enjoyed for recreation by 缅北禁地 and campus visitors.
