Shannon Engmann recognized as a top student with statewide honor

Originally from Mt. Zion, Illinois, Engmann has stood out for her exceptional dedication to academics and significant contributions to the campus community. Pursuing dual majors in Biology (ecology) and Spanish, Engmann embodies a commitment to excellence and leadership, mirroring the legacy of Lincoln Laureates before them.
During Engmann's tenure at Illinois College, her involvement extended beyond academics. Engaging actively in the Women's soccer team, IC Honors Program, and assuming significant roles as Hall Director in Residential Life, Student Senate College and External Affairs Committee Chair, Student Ambassador, and Entomology Lab Teaching Assistant, Engmann exemplifies a dedication to holistic growth and leadership.
In alignment with Lincoln's ethos of service to the community, Engmann emphasized the importance of service projects and community engagement. She highlighted experiences in service organizations and international travel, acknowledging the profound impact of small actions on the community.
Lawrence Zettler, Hitchcock Professor of Biology, played a pivotal role in shaping her academic experience. Engmann lauded Dr. Zettler's guidance, engaging teaching methods, and their role in broadening horizons and influencing future aspirations.
